Privacy Policy

1. Overview

OET Practice ("we", "our", or "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your rights regarding that information when you use our website at oetpreptest.com.

2. Information We Collect

We collect only the information necessary to provide our service:

  • Email address and password — collected when you create an account, stored securely by Supabase (our authentication provider).
  • Subscription plan — we store whether your account is on the Free or Premium plan.
  • Payment information — processed entirely by Stripe. We never see or store your credit card details.
  • Practice progress and scores — we save your scores for each test section so you can track your progress across sessions and devices.
  • Content you submit for AI feedback — for Writing practice, the letter you write; for Speaking practice, your spoken audio and the text transcript of the role-play. This content is sent to our AI providers to generate feedback (see Third-Party Services) and stored on your account so you can review it.
  • Feedback and content reports — if you send us feedback or report an issue, we store your message and the page you were on.
  • Usage data — standard server logs (IP address, browser type, pages visited) may be collected automatically by our hosting and analytics providers (see Cookies & Analytics).

We do not ask you for health information about yourself. Because Writing and Speaking practice content is processed by third-party AI providers, please do not enter real personal or patient health details into those exercises.

3. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

  • Create and manage your account.
  • Verify your subscription status and grant access to content accordingly.
  • Save and display your practice progress and AI feedback.
  • Generate AI-powered feedback on your Writing and Speaking practice (via our AI providers).
  • Send transactional emails (account confirmation, password resets, payment receipts) via Resend.
  • Send occasional product and marketing emails (for example, about premium features or new content). Every marketing email includes an unsubscribe link, and you can opt out at any time.
  • Improve the service based on aggregated usage patterns.

We do not sell or rent your personal information, and we do not share it with third parties for their own marketing purposes. We use the third-party providers listed below only to operate our own service.

4. Third-Party Services

We rely on the following third-party services, each governed by their own privacy policies:

  • Supabase — authentication and database hosting.
  • Stripe — payment processing. Stripe is PCI-DSS compliant.
  • Vercel — website hosting, infrastructure, and privacy-friendly, aggregated traffic analytics.
  • Resend — transactional and marketing email delivery.
  • OpenAI — powers the live Speaking role-play and processes your practice audio and transcript.
  • Anthropic — generates the AI feedback on your Writing letters and Speaking transcripts.
  • Google — advertising and conversion measurement (Google Ads), which may set advertising cookies.

Several of these providers (including Stripe, Vercel, Resend, OpenAI, Anthropic, and Google) are based in the United States. Using features such as AI Writing and Speaking feedback therefore involves transferring your data internationally for processing.

5. Data Retention

We retain your account data for as long as your account is active. You may request deletion of your account and associated data at any time by contacting us. Upon deletion, your email and plan information will be permanently removed from our database.

6. Cookies & Analytics

We use cookies and similar technologies for the following purposes:

  • Essential — authentication session tokens required for you to sign in and use your account.
  • Analytics — Vercel Analytics, which measures aggregated traffic without identifying individual users.
  • Advertising — Google Ads (gtag.js), which we use to measure advertising and conversions and which may set advertising cookies.

You can control or block cookies through your browser settings, and you can opt out of personalised Google advertising through Google’s ad settings. If you are in a region that requires prior consent for non-essential cookies (such as the EU or UK), please note that we are in the process of adding a consent control for this.

7. Your Rights

You have the right to:

  • Access the personal data we hold about you.
  • Request correction of inaccurate data.
  • Request deletion of your account and data.
  • Withdraw consent at any time by deleting your account.

8. Contact
